Why I Started Hawkins Heart In-Home Care
Before healthcare became my profession, it was something I watched every day at home.
My mother spent years caring for others, and I saw the difference it made in people's lives. She showed up. She paid attention. She treated people with dignity. Whether she was helping a family member or caring for a patient, she understood something I've never forgotten:
People remember how you make them feel.
Those lessons stayed with me.
As I got older, I began helping care for family members myself. Later, I worked in private homes as a Patient Care Assistant. Long before I became a Certified Medical Assistant, I learned that great care isn't just about completing tasks. It's about being dependable. It's about listening. It's about helping people feel safe, respected, and supported in their own homes.
Over the years, I met families carrying a lot on their shoulders.
They were caring for aging parents while raising children. Balancing work schedules, doctor's appointments, medications, and everyday responsibilities. Many weren't looking for someone to simply provide a service. They were looking for someone they could trust.
That's why I started Hawkins Heart In-Home Care.
I wanted to create the kind of company I would want caring for my own family.
A company that takes time to listen.
A company that communicates clearly.
A company that treats every client like a person, not a schedule.
Today, Hawkins Heart provides in-home care services for seniors and families across South Georgia, including companion care, personal care, respite care, and daily living support. But our approach hasn't changed.
We still believe the little things matter.
Learning someone's routine.
Knowing how they like their morning coffee.
Understanding what helps them feel comfortable.
Taking the time to build trust.
As a Certified Medical Assistant with more than 15 years of healthcare experience, I've seen how important consistency and communication are to families. That's why we work hard to provide dependable care that helps individuals remain safe, comfortable, and independent at home.
The name Hawkins Heart carries special meaning to me.
It honors my grandmother, Estelle Hawkins, whose life was marked by generosity, strength, and a willingness to help others. Her example reminds me why this work matters and continues to influence how we serve families today.
At the end of the day, this isn't just about home care.
It's about people.
It's about trust.
It's about helping families feel supported and giving loved ones the opportunity to remain where they feel most comfortable: home.
Thank you for allowing Hawkins Heart to be part of that journey.
